The Silver Crescent Foundation draws on more than 30 years of experience in supporting education, engineering and technology development in South Carolina, developing initiatives that form a conduit between the successful businesses of today and the leaders of tomorrow. These initiatives not only support workforce development, but also recognize companies that demonstrate the ability to positively impact employees, local communities and the state while achieving excellence within their industry. The Foundation collaborates with other nonprofit organizations, business leaders, institutions of higher learning and public school systems to help the next generation of young people understand the fundamental connections between engineering innovation, technology vitality and our high standard of living.

South Carolina Design Challenge

The Discover Manufacturing Design Challenge gives students in grades 1 – 12 an opportunity to learn about the role of manufacturing and engineering in South Carolina. Competitors create graphic designs portraying a dynamic, positive image of manufacturing and engineering in their local communities and throughout the state.

In doing so, young people realize the importance of the industry and begin to be aware of career opportunities within manufacturing technology and engineering. Winning students receive scholarships and their schools receive monetary awards.
