 SCF Needs You!

Do you have an interest in helping young people learn about career opportunities? Maybe you have a passion for engineering and technology. Or you think helping students get excited about science and math is a good idea.

These are all things the Silver Crescent Foundation is trying to do through its programs and initiatives. Our organization is committed to changing how people think about manufacturing jobs. We want to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to Discover Manufacturing - and the important role it can have in enhancing the quality of life for our state's citizens! From creating jobs and paying higher-than-average wages to building local tax base and infrastructure, manufacturing is an important economic driver.

We need your help to keep our mission going. Maybe you want to mentor an educator or speak to students at their school career day. You might prefer to support a student design competition or sponsor a middle school student to attend our summer camp. Or you could host career specialists at your business to learn firsthand about today's modern manufacturing environment. Whatever your passion, we invite you to Get Involved!

Six Sessions of Camp Success Planned

Once again the Silver Crescent Foundation is hosting its popular Camp Success engineering and technology day camps for rising 7th and 8th grade students with locations throughout South Carolina.

Camp Success helps students discover the creative and innovative thinking skills behind many of the latest product inventions and technologies that exist today. This week-long academic camp provides an opportunity for students to see how their desire to make the world a better place can be achieved through careers in engineering, science, technology and manufacturing.

There is a video on the camps on the
web site as well as specific information on camp locations, dates, tuition and the application process.

Lean Conference Coming to Charleston

Given the current competitive and market place conditions, a key factor to your company's endurance and continued existence is sharing and learning. Sharing with other manufacturers and learning from proven practices can make a positive impact on profits. Our own Tony Smith serves as the conference chair for this Lean AME conference and we wanted to make you aware of this valuable learning opportunity.

Since 2004, the Silver Crescent Foundation has enjoyed a special relationship with the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME). AME's mission is to inspire a commitment to global enterprise excellence through shared learning. Similarly, SCF has focused on supporting a strong manufacturing sector through various educational and outreach initiatives over the years. SCF's collaboration with AME has been a natural outgrowth of its past experience and ongoing desire to promote the industry's continued vitality as an economic engine.
